Just how old is our town? What is former first lady Dolley Madison’s connection to North Carolina? What did the face of our city used to look like? You can find the answers to these questions—and a whole lot more you might not even know to ask—at the Greensboro History Museum.
More on the Greensboro History Museum
The Greensboro History Museum covers the long history of the area we call home. And, not to spoil to one of the questions we posed, but the museum actually goes far beyond the 1808 founding of Greensboro. Its collections include information, exhibits, and artifacts dating as early as the 1700s!
What are some of the exhibits I can view at the Greensboro History Museum?
When you visit the Greensboro History Museum, you can see a wide array of artifacts, like photographs, manuscripts, and art. You can also check out its permanent and changing exhibits. Right now, some of the exhibits on display include:
- The Dolley Madison collection;
- Voices of a City: Greensboro North Carolina, which shows off objects owned by residents of our town across the centuries;
- Elegant in Any Scale: Otto Zenke and His Miniature Rooms;
- Pieces of Now: Murals, Masks, Community Stories & Conversations, which preserves 2020 as a historical event; and
- Welcome to the Gate City!, which provides a view of our town back at the start of the 1900s.
